Perhaps inevitably, I'm moving

Hope you’re having a nice Sunday.
There has been lots written elsewhere about Substack’s nazi problem, and why people who have cultivated a newsletter here should perhaps think about moving.
Anyway, the strength and clarity of those arguments, and a bit of pondering, has led me to decide to join those who are leaving Substack.
Tl;dr, this platform has increasing amounts of extreme content on it, and its continued introduction of algorithmically-driven content discovery features for users means the chances of coming across that content without going looking for it is increasing.
Alongside this, Substack’s responses to people asking straightforward questions about what they’re going to do about the racism, death threats, malicious misinformation and other nasty content that is hosted on their platform have been weak to say the least.
After a bit of poking around of the various options I’ve decided I’ll be moving this over to Ghost, wholesale.
The author features are nice and straightforward, it offers a good reader experience, and when questioned (by Casey Newton) “Ghost founder and CEO John O'Nolan told him that Ghost's hosted service will remove any and all pro-Nazi content” (slightly ridiculous at just how low that bar is, but welcome to 2024 I guess)
The new url will be ashmann.ghost.io (which, unsurprisingly, I can’t link to directly).
You shouldn’t need to do anything, and all future posts (after this one) will come via Ghost and be available there (as are all the posts I’ve published so far).
Forgive any initial loose ends, I’m still going through and ensuring everything is plugged in and working as expected.
I’ll ensure that any new subscribers here will get added to my Ghost subscriber list.
Ok, that’s all, see you over in the other place.
